Padre Pio once said: "With God, there are no coincidences...."
This quote comes to mind to me today when I think about Fr Villa's birthday coming the day after the great feast of Candlemas and Our Lady of Good Success. Although Fr Villa did not know of her until the end of his life, when he did find out, he fervently embraced her and called her "His General who would lead him and Chiesa viva in the battle to the end!" Of course, she knew all about him and was waiting for him to take up her banner and be a leader in spreading this devotion around the world. And he did just that with Chiesa viva #413 "Our Lady Condemns Masonry."
When I set out to discover who had written the Chiesa viva back in 2008 as I was doing some research on Padre Pio's death and burial, little did I know who was behind these articles! What a fine "coincidence" this meeting over the phone was that day in March 2008!
Later, when we met in person, Fr. Villa was happy to have us on board to help spread his writings and he even said to my husband and I with a smile: "So you have adopted 4 children from Colombia and now you would like to adopt Chiesa viva!" Of course we answered in the affirmative.
That was eighteen years ago this March and so we continue to work to make his writings known to the world.
My favorite and most beautiful Chiesa viva is #413 Our Lady Condemns Masonry. Back then, I was a little shocked that he chose that title even though that was her very distinct message to Mother Mariana and to the world. I asked that perhaps we should soften the title and he replied with a very firm NO! This is the title and that was that. He was an extremely courageous priest and has taught me alot. To stand firm, despite working against all odds.
We realized in a short time that we would not make many friends while helping spread Fr. Villa's writings because for the more liberal minded Catholic, he was a "radical traditionalist" that they could not bear and for many of the traditionalsts, he was considered "too liberal."
But in truth, he was just a humble priest following the directives of Christ to fight and protect His Church from the enemies of Christ. He never was disobedient and he always helped all those who were of Goodwill and needed advice or instruction. He was a true Alter Christus who never betrayed Our Lord or His Church!
As Fr. Villa was getting older and well into his 90's, I worried that we would have no history on him. I felt his life story was unbelievable and it should be written down. I asked him for a biography. He at first, was very against it, but I countered him saying that I felt it necessary for people to know and understand his mission. Just me writing about him with limited knowledge of him was not enough. I believed it needed to be done while he was still alive. So he agreed with much reservation. He allowed Franco Adessa this honor with one condition that he oversaw what was written. And so, "Who is Fr Luigi Villa?" was sent into print in 2011.
Throughout his time on earth he had many disappointments, great and small. He took all in stride. He did not in any way want to accept the mission that Padre Pio had commissioned him to undertake. He had even hoped for a way out of it but he did what Christ wanted him to do. In one of the meetings he had with Padre Pio, to bolster him up and encourage him, Padre Pio embraced Father Villa and said: «Courage, courage, courage! for the Church is already invaded by Free-masonry,»adding: «Freemasonry has already reached the Pope’s slippers.» (Paul VI!)

Not long after, he became ill and couldn't eat much and then not at all...

Father Luigi Villa had at least eight assasination attempts on his life, but his life was protected until he completed his mission!
Later, after Fr. Villa's death, Franco Adessa expanded the biography and the new title was called: "Who REALLY was Fr. Luigi Villa?"
